What is a NAATI-certified translation?
A NAATI-certified translation is one completed by a translator accredited by NAATI (the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters), Australia's official body for translation standards. It includes the full translated document, the translator's NAATI stamp, signature, and a certification statement. It's the standard required by the Department of Home Affairs, Australian Passport Office, and most other Australian
authorities.
How long is a NAATI-certified translation valid for?
Indefinitely. Translate it once, then reuse it for future visas, licences, enrolments, and applications.
What qualifications does a NAATI-certified translator hold?
Under NAATI’s current system, there’s more to becoming certified than sitting an exam. Candidates must first meet a set of prerequisite requirements, including formal training in translation or interpreting, as well as language proficiency, ethical competency, and intercultural competency, with the exact requirements varying depending on the credential. NAATI also requires practitioners to recertify every three years to maintain professional standards. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Translation from Universidad Nacional de La Plata in Argentina, one NAATI credential in interpreting, two NAATI credentials in translation, and I’m currently completing a Graduate Diploma in Editing and Proofreading.
How much does a NAATI-certified translation cost?
My translations start at $50 per page. The final price depends on the document's length, formatting, and complexity, and you'll always get a clear quote before any work begins. Interpreting is $85 per hour on-site or $75 per hour for video or phone.
Do you translate languages other than Spanish?
No, I work exclusively between Spanish and English. If you need another language pair, I'm happy to point you toward someone who can help.
Do I need to send original documents, or are scans okay?
Scans or clear photos are perfect, so no need to post originals. Once you've shared them via email or WhatsApp, I'll come back to you with a quote to approve.
Do you offer postal delivery for NAATI-certified translations?
Absolutely! Once your translation is complete and certified with my NAATI ink stamp and signature, I will dispatch it via Australia Post. You will receive a tracking number so you can follow its journey until it arrives at your door.
What if my document isn't on your list?
Generally, anything in English or Spanish I can translate for you. Reach out to discuss your document.
How long do translations take?
Two to three business days for up to three pages, plus a day for every two extra pages. If you’re on a tight deadline, reach out for a chat to see if I can accommodate your project.
What if I can't pay all upfront?
Standard practice is upfront payment, but for larger projects or anyone in genuine need, we can discuss payment options. Please get in touch to discuss further.
